At present it is grown on an area of 93.42 thousand hectares with production of over One million tons. The main mango growing districts in the Punjab province are Multan, Rahim yar Khan, Muzzaffargarh and Bahawalpur. In the province of Sindh it is mainly grown in Mir pur Khas, and Hyderabad.
This luscious fruit is nutritionally superior, source of several vitamins and minerals. Pakistan produces 5.86 percent world's mangoes, it has the third largest presence in the international market. Pakistani Mangoes are exported to Saudi Arabia, Middle East, Far East, Central Asian Republics, Iran, Russia and South Africa. It is also exported to the UK, Germany, France, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Holland, Italy and other European markets. The demand of Pakistani Mango increases every year considerably because of its distinctive taste and fragrance. Therefore Pakistani Mangoes have the prominent demand especially in UK, Germany, Japan, China and Hong Kong.
